MotoGP - The Star Riders To Watch Out For

The MotoGP Championship is well underway in 2019 and Marc Marquez is streaking away from the chasing pack. At the time of writing, he held a very comfortable 67 point lead over his nearest pursuer, Italian rider Andrea Dovizioso. The legend Valentino Rossi is only a couple of points further back in third, but time is running out for him to close the gap. Check out our MotoGP expert’s views on the star MotoGP riders below.

Marc Marquez

  • Age: 25.
  • Team: Honda.

At the tender age of just 25 Marc Marquez is already one of the best MotoGP riders of all time. The Spaniard rides for the powerful Honda team and he has already won four MotoGP World Championship titles, as well as two in lower classes. He won the big one in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017 and he will add to that tally in 2019, barring injury. He made his debut in the 125cc class at just 15 years old in 2008, and Marc Marquez has the potential to be the most successful MotoGP riders of all time, if he stays healthy.

Jorge Lorenzo

  • Age: 31.
  • Team: Ducati.

Jorge Lorenzo is the only man to break his fellow countryman Marc Marquez’ hold on the MotoGP World Championship in recent years. He took it in 2015, his third title after wins in 2010 and 2012. However, his move from Yamaha to Ducati has resulted in a drop in performance from Lorenzo and he was only 7th overall in 2017. On his day he is still capable of mixing it at the top table of MotoGP.

Andrea Dovizioso

  • Age: 32.
  • Team: Ducati.

Andrea Dovizioso has been racing in MotoGP since 2008 but he has yet to win the World Championship. The talented Italian has won plenty of individual races though, and he was runner up behind Marc Marquez in the overall standings in 2017. He has been riding for Ducati since 2013 and he has already won three races in 2019. He has a long way to go before he can be mentioned in the same breath as his fellow Italian Valentino Rossi, but Dovizioso has improved in recent years and it was no surprise to see him as short as 39/19 with 10Bet for the recent Aragon Grand Prix.

Valentino Rossi

  • Age: 39.
  • Team: Yamaha.

Valentino Rossi is a name that is synonymous with MotoGP. The 39 year old Italian is no spring chicken, but he has shown in 2019 that he is still a force to be reckoned with. He is a multiple MotoGP World Champion, winning the title on seven occasions between 2001 and 2009. He hasn’t managed to add to his haul since, but he finished 2nd three years in a row between 2014-16. He has a good chance of filling that position again in 2019, but he has yet to win an individual MotoGP race this season. That is why he could be backed at odds of 16/1 with 10Bet for the recent Aragon Grand Prix.

MotoGP Betting Tips and Trends

No matter what sport you are betting on, usually there are trends that can aid you in finding a winning wager. MotoGP is no different and there are a number of ways you can narrow the field for each individual race. Some teams and riders are better on speed tracks, while others excel in tracks with lots of tight turns. It always pays to take heed of any patterns or trends you notice for certain tracks, and below our MotoGP experts reveal some of the trends they use to turn a profit from betting on MotoGP.

MotoGP Trends

  • Some bikes are all about speed, while others are better at handling corners, so certain bikes perform better at certain MotoGP tracks.
  • The same applies to riders, so make sure to check back on previous results to see if they have performed well at a track in the past before you have a bet.
  • It is also important to keep an eye on the weather forecast if you are having a MotoGP bet, as some riders struggle in wet conditions, while others relish rain.

MotoGP Facts And History

MotoGP is the highest and fastest class in motorcycle racing.  The first ever MotoGP was a 500cc class event in 1949 and Leslie Graham won the inaugural Championship. It is sanctioned by the FIM and the Championship is now divided into three different divisions, Moto2, Moto3 and MotoGP. Yamaha and Honda have dominated the sport in the past decade, winning every title between them since 2008.

Giacomo Agostini is the best rider of all time, winning 8 titles in his career. In the modern age, Italian speedster Valentino Rossi leads the way with a total of 6 MotoGP World Titles, but young pretender Marc Marquez has every chance of dethroning the Italian, and Agostini too, if he stays fit. Other names like Mick Doohan and Casey Stoner will always be associated with MotoGP and watching (and betting on) bikes that are travelling at over 350km/h is a very exciting experience!

How To Bet On MotoGP - Tracks Matter!

If you are considering having a wager on a MotoGP race you should always check out the track characteristics. Also, previous results are worth looking at because some riders excel on certain types of track, and the same applies to bikes. Some have excellent straight line speed, while others handle turns better, so always take those factors into account before you put your cash down.

If you want to make money in the long term from betting on MotoGP finding the best odds is absolutely crucial. We always recommend shopping around, but for the most part Coral, 10Bet and Ladbrokes impressed us with their prices for MotoGP.

It is also very important to maximise your winnings by taking advantage of any MotoGP promotions that might be on offer. Usually Boylesports and William Hill have specials that can be applied to MotoGP bets, so they are two betting sites worth a second look for MotoGP promotions.

MotoGP Betting Promotions

As we stated above, it makes perfect sense to utilise any specials or promotions that you can for betting on MotoGP. We couldn’t find any promotions that applied specifically to MotoGP, but we did find a couple of specials that can be used for certain MotoGP wagers. To find out more, check out some of the best MotoGP betting promotions in the list below.

William Hill MotoGP Promotion: Bet Boost-Acca

If you are a fan of placing acca bets that include selections from MotoGP, then William Hill’s Bet Boost-Acca promotion is worth having a look at. If you use the William Hill Mobile site you will get one Acca Bet Boost per day on accas that have three selections or more from any sport, including MotoGP. The maximum stake for Acca Bet Boost wagers is £20 (£10 e/w) and it can be used on straight accumulator bets only. Other terms and conditions may apply, check the William Hill site for full details.

Boylesports MotoGP Promotion: Loyalty Acca Insurance

Lots of betting sites now have acca insurance offers where if one leg of an acca lets you down, you get your stake back. However, most bookies only have acca insurance for a limited number of sports. Not Boylesports though, as their Loyalty Acca Insurance applies to accas on all sports, including MotoGP. Simply opt in, place an acca with 5+ legs (min stake £5) and if one leg lets you down Boylesports will give you a refund as a free bet. Maximum refund is £20 and other terms and conditions apply. MotoGP Ascot FAQs

What is MotoGP?
MotoGP is the highest level of track motorbike racing in the world. In 2019 there was a total of 18 MotoGP Grand Prix held in 15 different countries, with four of those being held in Spain. MotoGP is hugely popular in that country and two of the best current riders, Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo are Spanish. Yamaha and Honda are the two dominant teams in MotoGP. The last team to win a World Championship apart from those two teams was Ducati back in 2007. MotoGP is one of the most exciting sports to watch, and if you have a need for speed you should definitely check it out!

What betting site has the best MotoGP odds?
When it comes to betting on MotoGP you should always make it your business to find the best odds possible. That is one of the keys to ensuring you stay in the black from betting on MotoGP and it always pays to have as many options as possible as odds can differ substantially between various online betting sites. When we were doing our research, we found that 10Bet are one of the best bookies around for offering value on MotoGP betting. Coral and Ladbrokes are another two bookies worth giving a chance to as their MotoGP odds are usually pretty generous in comparison to a lot of their industry rivals.

Do any UK bookies have live MotoGP streaming?
Streaming of various sporting events has become increasingly common in the UK gambling industry. Lots of bookies have live streaming available for their customers. Horse racing, football, tennis, snooker and lots of other sports can be streamed live, and Bet365 and William Hill are two of the best bookmakers around when it comes to live sports streaming. Most bookies require you to place a minimum size bet on an event before they allow you to stream it. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find any UK bookies that offered live streaming of MotoGP. However, some betting sites may offer live MotoGP streaming in the future, and if they do you will find out about it here at Sportsbetting24 first!
