Promotions for Existing Users
Unfortunately, Spreadex don’t offer many additional promotions for punters after their welcome offers.
However, players who are football fans will be happy to hear about Spreadex first goal insurance promo. With Spreadex, you may wager on any football match and get up to £25 of your money returned as a free bet, if your first scorer fixed odds pick scores last instead of first. This is a great way to increase your chances of success when betting with Spreadex.
The promos that were available on Spreadex were event-specific and sport-specific. This means that they will probably be changed on a frequent basis, which is a fantastic approach for punters to gain more value over time, so we suggest you take a look at their current promotions.
Is Spreadex Trustworthy and Safe?
Spreadex was founded back in 1999. For the first few years they focused solely on financial spread betting, but introduced online sports betting to their lineup in 2006.
But why is it important that you know this?
Because people have been trusting Spreadex with their money for over 20 years.
Spreadex don’t just have longevity backing them up, though. They’re regulated by three of the industry’s strictest authorities:
- UK Gambling Commission – Licence Number: 8835
- Alderney Gambling Control Commission – via association with NetEnt Alderney Limited
- Financial Conduct Authority – Licence Number: 190941
Limited Banking Options at Spreadex
Unfortunately, Spreadex stick to only the traditional payment methods that our parents have been using their whole lives. Punters can even make deposits & withdrawals via cheque.
Now we think it’s great that Spreadex offer easy, familiar payment methods for punters of all ages and generations, like debit cards. But we’d still like to see some modern and convenient options for those of us that use them.
They offer no eWallet support of any kind, nor do they take pre-paid options like PaySafeCard, or even the exceptionally secure Trustly.
While every punter out there will find a way to make deposits and withdrawals with Spreadex’s options, many punters prefer a more current selection of options.
Withdrawal Times
Variety aside, though, Spreadex still find a way to impress in the payments department:
Withdrawals to debit cards only take 2-5 working days to process.
Withdrawals via bank transfer only take 2 working days.
For punters who really value speed, same-day CHAPS transfers are available at a charge.
Spreadex process withdrawal requests faster than most other bookmakers we’ve reviewed over the years, as on most betting sites bank transfer withdrawals take over a week.
Withdrawal Limits & Fees
- Minimum withdrawal: £50 – if you have less than £50 in your account, you must withdraw your entire balance.
- Withdrawal limits: £25,000 to a debit card, other than Mastercard, which is £2,500.
- Same-day CHAPS transfer fee: £25, plus any additional bank fees associated with international transfers or currency conversion.
- Currency conversion & bank fees: international bank transfers (i.e. to bank accounts outside the UK) and transfers in any currencies other than GBP will be subject to bank charges and conversion fees.

The Spreadex Sports Betting Experience
While most of you have probably heard of Spreadex as a spread betting site for financials, but we’re here to talk about what’s really important: Spreadexs’ sports betting features!
To start with, we were a little disappointed to see that Spreadex doesn’t cover quite as many sports as their competitors. Luckily, though, all of the biggest and most popular sports are all present and accounted for, like football, rugby, and horse racing.
Spread Betting
For any punters who might not be aware, Spread Betting works very differently to fixed odds betting. Luckily, Spreadex offer both options.
With Spread Betting, you aren’t just risking your stake, you can end up losing larger amounts of your bankroll.
Spread betting odds also look really different from the usual fractional and decimal formats you’re used to seeing. Just like when buying stocks, two prices are given on any specific spread bet: the buy price (i.e. your ‘bid’ or ‘stake’) and the sell price (i.e. the ask price). The difference between these two numbers is what we call the spread.
For example, here are some odds for the same match we used in our fixed odds comparison:
Market | Sell / Buy |
Total Goals | 2.85 – 3.05 |
Let’s say you choose to buy £10 at 3.05, and the match ends with a total of 5 goals. The way you calculate your return is:
(([settled price] – [buy price]) x [stake])
In this case, it would be ((5 – 3.05) x 10), so that’s 1.95 x £10, meaning a profit of £19.50!
However, if there were only goal that match, it would end up looking like this:
((1 – 3.05) x £10)
which would be a loss of £20.50.
Minimums and Maximums
Minimum bet amount: Between £1 and £5 depending on the specific event.
Maximum Payout: Depends on the sport, this ranges from anywhere between £10,000 and £500,000 for maximum payout on a single fixed-odds sports bet.
Betting Markets
When it comes to offering options, Spreadex is usually great at this.
Let’s see if that extends to their betting market support:
We took the same English Premier League football match that we used for the fixed odds comparison below.
Spreadex offered 49 different pre-match markets, while LeoVegas offered 66. Unibet, on the other hand, offered 62.
This means that Spreadex is lagging behind in terms of market options. With some other bookmakers offering up to 30% more markets, this may not be the best choice for punters who love having as many options as possible.
Cash Out
Fans of live betting will be pleased, as Spreadex offer both complete and partial cash out.
While we’d like to see some more modern features like the newer auto-cash-out options that have been popping up recently, Spreadex makes up for that with speed.
Cash out requests are handled exceptionally quickly, making it easy to strike at just the right moment to maximise your profits or minimise your losses.
Odds Comparison
Considering Spreadex have been around for over two decades, we thought it was only fair to put them up against another well-established bookmaker for the odds comparison.
We took the pre-match fixed odds from the same English Premier League match and compared Spreadex’s odds to some of their biggest competition: LeoVegas Sport!
Spreadex | LeoVegas Sport | |
Newcastle | 11/2 (6.50) | 11/2 (6.50) |
Draw | 7/2 (4.50) | 10/3 (4.35) |
Chelsea | 40/85 (1.47) | 4/9 (1.47) |
Overround | 105.59 | 107.72 |
*Odds are for display purposes only and were correct at the time of writing. We make no guarantees that these odds are still available when reading this. |
A £10 bet on match-favourite Chelsea with Spreadex would net you £14.71 in returns, which is £4.71 in profit. The same bet at LeoVegas sport would give you returns of £14.44, and profit of just £4.44.
That may only be a difference of 5.7% between the two profit figures, but that can add up to a tidy sum over the course of a year.
For example, if your winnings for the year with Spreadex total up to £5,000, you’d only get £4,715 if you’d opted for LeoVegas Sport, instead.

Spreadex’s Betting Apps
A lot of people reading this may not know this, but the Spreadex App was the world’s first spread betting and fixed odds betting app.
Spreadex have definitely used all this time on the market wisely. They have apps for sports betting, financial betting, and their online casino all available on Android phones, iPhones, and iPads!
As you can see in the images below, the user-interface is wonderfully simple and easy to use. Even your dad is likely to have no problems with it, honestly. Everything is exactly where you’d expect it to be and clearly labelled.
(Though you may still be the one who needs to install it for him…)
How do I Download the Spreadex Betting App?
- Open to the Apple App Store (iPhones) or Google Play Store (Android) on your phone
- Search for “Spreadex” and tap the Spreadex Sports icon
- Tap on “Install” and the app will automatically download and install
- Open the app and log in!
The Spreadex Live Betting Suite
Spreadex clearly know how seriously some punters take a good bit of in-play betting. Their live betting suite is one of the best out there. A lot of this comes down the in-play section’s user interface, but also the speed and features.
Live betting is available front and centre on the sports page, and the user interface allows punters to place bets on multiple in-play events at once.
As we mentioned above, Spreadex’s Cash Out feature is fast and can be used for precise and strategic timing of your cash out requests.
Does Spreadex Have Live Streaming?
Yes, Spreadex offers live streaming on a number of sports.
Punters can even see a schedule of streamed events over the next few days, making it extremely easy to plan ahead. A feature that’s, sadly, lacking in most other betting sites.
We saw live streams available for football, horse racing, greyhounds, tennis, and more during our review testing, and we think Spreadex has a decent selection of streamed events.
Does Spreadex Have a VIP Club?
Our expert reviewers weren’t able to find out very much, but we managed to establish that Spreadex has a VIP Club, even if it’s very well hidden.
Like many online bookmakers out there, Spreadex’s site has no mention of any sort of VIP membership options.
All we were able to find out is the following:
- VIP membership is meant to be extremely exclusive
- The VIP Club is by invitation only, there are no points to score or applications to fill
- The amount of money you deposit and bet each month is directly linked to how likely you are to be invited to the secret VIP Club
- VIP Members get access to special offers and bonuses, like VIP free bets.
Phenomenal Customer Service
Spreadex are exceptionally easy to get in touch with, even for punters who may not like the idea of using live chat or email.
They have phone lines that operate the entire workday, as well as accept international customer phone calls. We’d have liked to see better support in the evenings, as that’s when many of the big mid-week matches are on, but their live chat keeps running until 21:00.
Where we were really blown away was their Help section. Not only is everything organized into topics and subtopics, but Spreadex also offer video tutorials.
Spreadex care so much about their customers’ experience that they created, and continue to update, their tutorial videos to help punters get exactly what they need.
Our Spreadex Live Chat Experience
The live chat operators we spoke to during our review testing were extremely accommodating and always gave complete, detailed answers.
Their responses were not the absolute quickest out there, but as every response was thorough and well-constructed, we don’t think the speed is an issue. On average, we found ourselves waiting around 4 and a half minutes for a response each time we contacted them.
