League football on Saturday brings a much anticipated Serie A matchup between two of the biggest contenders for the top four; Juventus and Napoli. The teams are sitting neck to neck on the league table, with one point making the difference in favor of Juve, but surprisingly enough, the positions they take up are 12 and 13.
These Italian giants have had a rough start to their seasons, and they’ll be looking to trump each other in what should be an exciting contest. Serie A teams have an ill repute of playing unattractive football, but these teams are not afraid to mix it up. We should expect good football for the eyes of fans and neutrals alike.
Napoli is looking for reinvigoration for this year’s campaign. The team that failed to qualify for Champions League football by a small margin last year, is now looking to come back stronger than ever and prove their worth, both domestically and on a global scale.
Their plan didn’t start off flawlessly, to say the least. Napoli lost on opening day (2:1) vs the biggest surprise of the year so far; Sassuolo, who are currently sitting on the 3rd spot in Seria A. Then followed matches against Sampdoria and Empoli, both resulting in a draw. Their clash after that was a memorable 5:0 victory versus Lazio. Things were starting to look up, but then followed another draw versus the newly promoted underdog Carpi.
Napoli is better than that, no doubt. They have yet to prove their worth. The question is whether they will succeed in their next clash vs the mighty squad of Juventus – a tough challenge for anyone. Many are doubtful this match will be Napoli’s comeback, despite the fact they’re playing on home turf.
Juventus is a team that’s growing stronger year after year. Not many were expecting this squad to end up in the Champions League final game last year, yet they succeeded. Even though they lost to Barcelona, it can be counted as a success, since they were the first Italian team to manage that feat since Jose Mourinho’s Inter in 2010.
Juventus started their season in an excellent manner, obtaining the Italian Super Cup trophy by triumphing over Lazio 2:0. Their Serie A campaign, on the other hand, began in devastating fashion, losing two right off the bat versus Udinese (0:1) and the fearless Roma (2:1). Their biggest accomplishment to speak of so far this season is their win against City (1:2) on away turf, in the Champions League. However, their inconsistency is certainly not a desirable feat for anyone.
Juventus are current defenders of the league trophy, as they were the previous three seasons. No one came dangerously close to overthrowing them in the past few years, but it won’t come as a surprise if this year we see another team lifting the trophy. The Old Lady’s record so far certainly doesn’t speak in their favor, and Allegri must reinvigorate his team if they are to start clawing their way to the top.

We all know that this match can go either way, it is a tough one, and there no indicators that may heavily skew the odds in one team’s favor. However, there is still space to make a viable prediction here, otherwise we would not be featuring this match at all.
Juventus have an abysmal goal scoring record so far, scoring five goals out of their last five matches in the league. Napoli isn’t looking too bright either. Yes, they crushed Lazio with five goals, but if you followed the game you would know that much of that was attributed to Lazio’s amateurish defense mistakes. Juventus’s defense, on the other hand, is one of their strongest suites.
You see what we’re getting at here. If you’re going to bet on this tough matchup, fewer than 2.5 goals at odds of 1.70 or 7/10 is your best option.
On a final note, we strongly advise abstaining from betting on the winner here. Moreover, it is recommended that you don’t factor in the head2head match of these two teams. Napoli have won only once vs Juve out of their nine last games. But then again, Juventus have only won once at the San Paolo stadium out of their last eight games. This puts us in a neutral state, and it is a factor you should consider.
